Cornelius Brainard's correspondence includes letters concerning his work as an Internal Revenue collector and his work in the family firm. Abraham Brainard's civil service career and political activities are highlighted by letters showing his support of the Whig Party, and notices of his selection as a member of the Committee of Organization and Vigilance in School District [x]. Also includes correspondence of Jerusha Brainard, William Brainard, Celestia Jerome Brainard, Kate Amelia Brainard, Morgan Bulkeley Brainard, and Newton Case Brainard. Correspondence of Florence Maynard with Morgan B. Brainard concerns the possible donation of a Hadley chest to the Morgan Memorial.
